Carolina is a post-doctoral researcher that is developing a bull fertility index at the Ft Keogh Livestock and Range Research Laboratory in Miles City, Montana.Last year, she graduated from her PhD program as a pre-doctoral USDA NIFA Fellow from the Animal Reproduction and Biotechnology Laboratory at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was under the guidance of co-advisees Dr. Thomas R. Hansen and Dr. Milton G. Thomas. Her research focused on understanding what are the underlying mechanisms of early pregnancy loss and identifying genetic markers that can help differentiate Holstein cows that are predisposed to it. Previous to her post doctoral and Ph.D. studies, she obtained her master’s and bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences and minor in Pre-Veterinary Sciences from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez campus in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico.
