Dr. Jeff Lehmkuhler is an Extension Professor at the University of Kentucky. Jeff grew up in southern Indiana which is in the fescue belt. He received a B.S. from Purdue University and completed his graduate studies at the University of Missouri. Dr. Lehmkuhler began his career at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2001 as an Assistant Professor with an 80/20 Extension research position. He then accepted an Extension specialist position at the University of Kentucky in 2008 and was promoted to Full Extension Professor in 2021. Jeff has been involved in beef cattle research and Extension education for more than 20 years. He has researched pasture finishing, grazing systems and forage species as well as other beef production management technologies. Currently, he and his colleagues are investigating bioactive compounds in feeds and epigenetics. Jeff has developed a variety of extension programs and authored numerous beef industry materials. Dr. Lehmkuhler has worked internationally giving presentations in Canada, Brazil, China, Belarus and Ukraine.
