Guelph, Ontario
Dr. Christine Bone completed her PhD in 2021 and has since been working as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Animal Biosciences at the University of Guelph. Christine's research is a mix of basic and applied science that focuses on characterizing the physiological systems regulating boar taint development and identifying how these systems differ between individual animals to establish biomarkers and genotypic profiles that cause animals to differentially respond to various treatments for boar taint. With this information, Christine will apply these treatments on an individual basis to animals with biomarkers and genotypic profiles associated with favourable treatment outcomes in hopes of effectively eliminating the need for castration in the swine industry.
