Sarah Montgomery-Williams completed her master's in Plant and Soil Sciences at Mississippi State University and is now an assistant herdsman and a Ph.D student in the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences at Mississippi State. Originally being from Youngstown, Ohio, Sarah grew up working with livestock on her family's farm and this is where she grew the interest to continue her education in agriculture. Sarah completed her undergrad at The University of Tennessee at Martin with a degree in Agriculture Science Production and decided to go to graduate school at Mississippi State University.
While at Mississippi State, Sarah works as the assistant herdsman co-managing the beef herd at the H. H. Leveck Animal Research Center at Mississippi State and is pursuing her Ph.D under Dr. Brandi Karisch. Sarah's dissertation work is observing grazing behavior of cattle as well as utilizing UAV and Satellite imagery in a grazing system to see if images that are taken by a UAV or Satellite can be used to observe forage characteristics to use that information to help predict grazing parameters such as stocking rate or density.
