Assistant Professor
University of Wisconsin - Madison
Dr. Hilario Mantovani is an Assistant Professor in rumen microbial physiology at the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Mantovani received a PhD degree in Microbiology from Cornell University and has experience in anaerobic and rumen microbiology, microbial physiology, and microbial ecology. His research program is focused on understanding the functions and ecological interactions between anaerobic microbes that colonize the gastrointestinal tract of ruminants. Currently, special attention is given to the screening of bioactive molecules, and the development of additives and supplements that can modulate rumen microbiome function and reduce methane emissions.
