Lorena Ferreira Benfica is an Animal Scientist, holding a Master's degree in Sustainable Animal Production with an emphasis on Quantitative Genetics and Animal Breeding. Currently, she is a Ph.D. student in the Genetics and Animal Breeding program at São Paulo State University (Jabotical, Sao Paulo, Brazil). She is also visiting scholar at Purdue University (West Lafayette, IN, United States) where she collaborates with renowned experts in the field, further enhancing her knowledge and skills. Throughout her academic career, Lorena has been dedicated to the study and advancement of genetics and animal breeding, exploring innovative strategies to improve animal production sustainably. Her research focuses on the identification and characterization of genome copy number variation (CNV) and its association with feed efficiency, growth, and feeding behavior traits in beef cattle.
