Gerald K. Salas-Solis is from Costa Rica. He received his Bachelor's degree in Agronomic Engineering with an emphasis on Animal Sciences from Universidad de Costa Rica in 2022. During his undergraduate studies, Gerald was as a research assistant at the National Nutrition Research Center from and at the Department of Animal Sciences, both at Universidad de Costa Rica. In 2021, he completed his undergraduate professional internship, gaining hands-on experience at both a dual-purpose and a specialized dairy farm. Additionally, in 2022 he did a research internship working in Dr. Faciola's Livestock Nutrition Lab. Currently, Gerald is a first-year Master's student in Animal Sciences at University of Florida, working under the guidance of Dr. Antonio Faciola. He is conducting research evaluating hydroponically-produced fodders on in-situ degradability, total gas and methane production, nutrient digestibility and ruminal fermentation in dairy cattle.
