Leticia Fernanda de Oliveira is an Animal Scientist. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science (2018) from IF Sudeste MG in Rio Pomba, MG, Brazil. She further pursued her education in the field and earned a Master's degree in Animal Science (2020). Currently, she is a Ph.D. candidate in Animal Science with a focus on animal breeding at the Federal University of Viçosa in Viçosa, MG, Brazil. Leticia's academic journey has also included being a visiting scholar at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN, United States, where she collaborates with renowned experts in the field, further enhancing her knowledge and skills.
Her Ph.D. thesis centers around three main areas. Firstly, she focuses on the inclusion of non-additive genetic effects in genomic prediction. Secondly, she investigates the identification of genes involved in controlling traits related to heat stress in lactating sows. Lastly, she delves into the analysis of copy number variations (CNV) for heat stress-related traits in lactating sows. Leticia's extensive expertise lies in estimating variance components and utilizing genomic prediction techniques, with the aim of advancing the understanding and improvement of animal traits through her research.
