Abdullah Mahfuz, PhD
Abdullah Mahfuz is Research & Development Manager in Animal Nutrition and Product Development for Feed Energy Company in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.
In 2006, Mr. Mahfuz received a PhD in Bio-resources Chemistry from Iwate University, Iwate Prefecture, Japan. His research area was on the extraction and characterization of soybean phytochemicals and phytic acid in various soybean cultivars in Japan.
After completion of his PhD, Mahfuz was appointed as a Visiting Researcher in the Department of Agro-Bioscience, Laboratory of Food and Health Science, Iwate University, Japan. His interests focused on the isolation and characterization of soybean protein and oil as value-added products.
In 2008, Mahfuz received a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, Food Engineering Laboratory, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. His research focused on the enzymatic aqueous extraction processing of vegetable oil and protein as an alternative to the conventional solvent based oil extraction process.
Mr. Mahfuz has vast research experience in Biotechnology, Food Chemistry, Oil Chemistry, Nutrition, Industrial value-added products, and Natural Antimicrobials. Since 2008 he has been employing that experience to develop products for Feed Energy that benefit in gut health and improved immune systems for poultry, swine, and livestock throughout the Midwest.
