Dr. Eileen Armstrong collaborates with the Sustainable Southwest Beef CAP project of New Mexico State University, in the areas of cattle breeding and genetics. Eileen serves in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Universidad de la República, Uruguay. She has conducted animal genetic and breeding research that has contributed with the rescue, conservation, and evaluation of the Heritage Uruguayan Criollo cattle herd at the San Miguel natural reserve, located in the department of Rocha, Uruguay. Eileen and colleagues in Uruguay and NMSU are currently planning research trials that will integrate GPS tracking technology to evaluate grazing behavior traits and movements of Heritage Uruguayan Criollo cattle in their natural environment.
